Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel (born February 25, 1980) is an American lawyer, former federal prosecutor, and government official. A close ally of Donald Trump, he has held various high-level positions, including chief of staff to the acting secretary of defense and senior advisor to the acting director of national intelligence. In November 2024, President-elect Trump nominated Patel to lead the FBI, making him the first Indian American to hold the position.

Patel played a significant role in Republican-led investigations into Trump and Russian election interference while working as a senior aide to Congressman Devin Nunes. He was the primary author of the controversial 2018 Nunes memo, which alleged FBI misconduct in surveillance activities.

A former public defender and Justice Department trial attorney, Patel later served as a senior official on the National Security Council. He has been linked to various conspiracy theories and operates the Kash Foundation and consulting firm Trishul.

Born in Garden City, New York, to Indian Gujarati immigrant parents, Patel studied history and law before starting his legal career. He has been a frequent guest on conservative media and podcasts.
