arrested for Smuggling 78 kilograms Cocaine at Windsor Border,
worth $9.8 million

A spokeswoman for The Canada Border Services Agency(CBSA) of
Windsor, told media that Baldev Singh was arrested for smuggling
78 kilograms of cocaine worth $9.8 million, hidden in containers
carrying oranges on a truck, entering Canada at the Ambassador
Bridge on March 19, at about 9:20 a.m.
According to the (CBSA) Canada Border Services Agency, during
a routine check of the truck and trailer, they found 69 bricks
of cocaine in two orange crates.
NRI Baldev Singh, 40, of Maple, Ontario, was charged under Canada
Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is in Windsor Jail and
court appearance was set up on March 27, 2009
Teri Mailloux, spokeswoman for the CBSA’s Windsor St. Clair
region told local media that there have been a number of large
seizures at Windsor and Sarnia crossings over the past two years.

significant seizures

at the Windsor-Detroit border
- In 2007, officers in the Windsor-St. Clair region seized 456
kilos of cocaine
