Tulsi Gabbard Is Running For President In 2020
|
Have you heard rumors about Tulsi 2020? Maybe you’ve been seeing the news. Democrat Tulsi Gabbard announces 2020 run for president to take on Trump |
|
Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district since 2013. |
Tulsi has been a Hindu American leader in the truest sense. From being the first ever member of the US Congress to take the oath on the Bhagavad Gita to fiercely advocating for not only her constituents, but for issues impacting the wellbeing of Hindus here at home and around the world, Tulsi’s approach to lawmaking and diplomacy has been one guided by dharma and steeped in the spirit of karma yoga.
Tulsi has been vocal against inaccurate and disrespectful presentations of our teachings and traditions in the media and public school textbooks. She’s championed policies that respect the earth and all living beings. She has unapologetically advocated for civil and human rights -- speaking up not only for Hindu minorities, but all people who are suffering. And I’m sure you know of her courageous stance against activism and legislation over the years that has sought to undermine one of the most important relationships our country has -- the US-India bilateral partnership. Most importantly, Tulsi stands up for the fundamental values that make America great -- freedom, democracy, equality, and pluralism -- not only by her words, but by her actions.
Gabbard resigned as DNC Vice Chair on February 28, 2016, in order to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination. She was the first female U.S. Representative to endorse Sanders. At the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Gabbard gave the nominating speech putting his name forward.
"There are a lot of reasons for me to make this decision,” Gabbard told CNN. “There are a lot of challenges that are facing the American people that I'm concerned about and that I want to help solve.”
Tulsi Gabbard Added:
Aloha
When we stand united, motivated by our love for each other and for our country, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.
If elected, she’d be the youngest president in U.S. history at only thirty-nine years old. But Gabbard is no stranger to youthful accomplishments; at the age of twenty-one, she was elected to the Hawaii state legislature, the youngest woman ever elected to a state house.
One of the most aggressive pieces of climate change legislation in Congress, Gabbard’s “OFF Fuels for a Better Future Act” would mandate a dramatic move away from fossil fuels.
Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono on Monday signaled she'll not be backing fellow Hawaii Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard in her bid for president
