Manisha Mehta lost her bid for Houston City Council District
E. She received 15 percent of the votes in a tight race for the
City Council seat which became vacant with the incumbent retiring.
Mehta had hoped to bring her financial planning background to
City Hall, and had vowed to serve as a watchdog to ensure that
her district's tax dollars are being spent properly..

Houston City Council for District E.
She came to America at the age of 10, Manisha graduated
from public schools and went on to earn a finance degree from
the University of Houston. She worked in the insurance industry
for sixteen years before taking a break to raise her family .
Manisha has been married to Nikhil for 18 years; he is a former
NASA engineer who now is himself a small business owner. They
have two children.
Manisha knows that families move to District E neighborhoods
for their quality of life; she will protect that lifestyle by
working to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and
protect the integrity of our residential neighborhoods
Manisha will also bring her financial planning background to City
Hall to serve as your watchdog when it comes to how your tax dollars
are being spent. She would be the first NRI, Indo-American member
of Council if she wins
She is a Member of Bay Area Turning Point, Member of Indo-American
Chamber of Commerce Greater Houston
Member of Texas Agency Council, Served on the Board of Directors
for ICCL (India Center) 2006 and served on the Board of Ladies
of Clear Lake, a Think Tank Group
Nanisha volunteered fpr Gulf Coast Area United Wa, Tsunami Relief
fund, Indo-American Charity Foundation, Ekal Vidyalaya (One Teacher
School) for Tribal villages of India, Indicorps - a Grass root
movement in India
