NRI, Supriya Christopher is running for a seat in the Virginia General Assembly.

NRI, Supriya received military leadership training in the R.O.T.C program and was proud to be commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. She got Master's degree in Media Writing from Johns Hopkins University. She received a Bachelor's degree in mass communications from Seton Hall University.

She started broadcasting as a news anchor with USA Today in Washington, DC and then was an anchorwoman for an ABC affiliate in Mississippi. She worked in the field of public relations and also was a media and communications coordinator for the City of Virginia Beach. She also president of professional writing and editing business called Christopher Corporate Communication.

Supriya is president of the Oceana Officer Spouses Club. She is former employee of the City of Virginia Beach. She is knowledgeable of the issues that affect her basic service needs and for public safety organizations. She said, "I will use a balanced and bi-partisan approach in decision- making and public policy development".

Christopher was born in New York. Her husband, Mr. Damien Christopher, Lieutenant Commander is an F/A-18 pilot in the US Navy and a United States Naval Academy Graduate. They have two sons, age 7 and 5. She has lived in Virginia Beach since 1999

Her husband recently returned from his second deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She said, "As a former officer in the Army myself, and a Navy pilot's wife, I know the special challenges faced by military families".

She like to represent Virginia State's roughly 360,000 NRIs
