Mr. Johal has been a successful real estate agent in Calgary
for over 20 years. Two years ago, he complimented his real estate
career by opening up a printing shop in the Calgary Northeast
community.
Mr. Johal has been a leader in the Calgary Sikh community. He
was elected President of Dashmesh Cultural Centre Calgary (the
Sikh temple in Calgary Northeast) for two consecutive terms. As
president, he was able to create a strong relationship between
the Calgary Sikh community and the Calgary Police Services as
well as promoting other initiatives and activities.
In 2000, Mr. Johal decided to take his experience in the community
to the political stage by becoming an active member of the Liberal
Party. He was twice elected president of the Calgary Northeast
Liberal Association, and is now taking his involvement a step
further as the ridings Liberal candidate.
Mr. Johal is a strong believer and supporter of the Charter of
Rights and Freedoms and in the protection of rights of all minority
groups in Canada. Furthermore, providing real help for seniors
is an issue close to his heart, as his father was in and out of
the hospital for over 25 years. Mr. Johal understands that we
enhance the quality of life for all seniors, especially those
with the most limited means.
Through his personal and professional and along with his community
involvement, Mr. Johal wants to bring the concerns of the Calgary
Northeast community to Ottawa, and act as a strong voice for Western
Canada.
Mr. Johal is married and is the father of two children.
