Harnek Singh Neki, a Radio Virsa Host, NZ, was shot by some unknown assailants in Auckland, New Zealand. It took place at around 10 pm last night on Dec 23 as NZ time. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1987 .

There’re  about 100,000 subscribers to his channel on YouTube, but the average views of his videos are not even 10,000, and not all of them support him. Most of the people just like to listen him and to see what he is saying.

His hatefull comments about Guru Granth Sahib and Sikh Gurus:

  • Granth Sahib (sacred scripture) is not a Guru, there is nothing in it what makes it guru
  • When Sikh martyres were killed then from were their wives full-filled their sexual desire
  • Guru Gobind Singh was a coward, two normal men killed him
  • Sikh gurus also made mistakes, they were normal persons not special

Harnek Neki was said to have been embroiled in several controversies over spreading misinformation regarding Sikhism that even led to threats against him.

He used to make controversial statements on Sikh issues through his radio programs.

The Broadcasting Standards Authority has found that a Radio Virsa talkback host breached standards of violence, law and order, and good taste and decency.

  • A talkback host on a small Auckland Punjabi radio station has been ticked off for calling for "collective violent action" against members of a Sikh sect in India.

  • The Broadcasting Standards Authority has upheld a complaint that the comments, made by host Harnek Singh on Radio Virsa on July 27 last year, breached broadcasting standards on violence, law and order and good taste and decency.

  • The Broadcasting Standards Authority has heard eight complaints against the station and in 2017 upheld a complaint about "offensive comments about named individuals" and "comments about women [which] were unacceptable in New Zealand society".

  • Radio Virsa submitted that Harnek Singh "did not threaten anyone but he used the word 'we' which was on behalf of all the innocent people and gave them a warning message".

  • In 2019, Harnek Singh’s Singh Sabha Organisation ordered to pay more than $105,000 in penalties and overdue wages. The two employees Harpreet Singh and Jaswinder Singh were employed as a Ragi Jatha from 27th October 2017 onwards at Gurdwara Shirley Road in Auckland, New Zealand for more than 6 months.

  • Harnek Singh’s organization Sri Guru Singh Sabha Auckland Inc. has been ordered to pay $106,516.84 in the case of non-payment of minimum wages and other benefits to his former employees. Harnek Singh New Zealand is the convenor and treasurer of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Auckland Inc.

His activities include criticizing Amrit, questioning the infallibility and perfection of the Sikh Gurus, stirring up unnecessary controversies and using foul language in his commentary against Sikh History, respected Sikh personalities and panthik traditions.

Due to these anti-panthik activities, Harnek was excommunicated from the Sikh panth on 14 June 2018 by the then SGPC appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht.
