Known for his exemplary services to the Indian Community and embedded
with the virtue of ‘helping others’, Moti Visa is one
of the most known NRIs in Australia. He is a very loving and caring
person and has a burning desire for community work. He is the editor-in
chief of the most popular national magazine ‘Beyond India’
which is published from Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. It’s
copies also go to Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Hobart. Every month,
over 27,000 copies are published and distributed through Indian
Grocery shops and some Indian Restaurants.
Moti Visa is recipient of the prestigious Award of Excellence
from the Parliament of Victoria, for his Meritorious Services towards
Indian Community. He has also received the Award of Excellence from
Telugu Community. This award is for his special services to the
Telugu Community that includes inserting 3 pages in Telugu language
in the popular ‘Beyond India’ magazine. He motto in
life is ‘United you stand, divided you fall.’

Moti is a Mechanical Engineer by profession. He migrated from
Nairobi, Kenya (East Africa) in 1983 and worked as Production Manager,
Project Engineer and as Factory manager until year 2000. He has
since then been in the manufacturing business, his specialty being
manufacturing drinking Straws. Moti is also in the business of Satellite
Equipment sales and Installation and in this way he does the community
work by providing them TV Channels received FTA from India and also
Pay TV.
In 1993 he was elected to the management committee of Gujarati
Association, and worked as Chair-Person of Diwali Committee and
then Membership Secretary. At that time he observed that various
Indian Association are separately celebrating the Diwali function
which he thought was against his motto of unity. He therefore decided
to bring about a unity amongst various associations and urged them
to celebrate Indian festivals together. This vision gave birth to
‘Holi Mela’ celebrated in a grand way in 1993. The Holi
Mela has since become very popular and children and students from
India eagerly wait for this event. Similarly he started “Diwali
Mela” at the same venue.
The united concept was picked up by others in Victoria and other
States. Now many Mela's and programs are being done together. Moti
is always ready to help to new arrivals in Melbourne and becomes
their mentor.
Moti is current and perhaps the longest serving President of Sindhi
Association of Victoria from 2003 to 2007 and now 2009. He is also
Vice President of Australia India Innovation Inc. They organize
Mega Events in Melbourne, like Diwali, Holi where thousands of people
come and enjoy the events.
His venture ‘Beyond India’ consists of National news
and events, Sports, Beyond Entertainment-Bollywood, Health articles
from local and New Zealand writer, Articles and stories written
by well known journalists, Kids Corner, Matrimonial, Horoscope (Jyotish)
and Tarot besides the International News and events.
