            Dr. AMARJIT SINGH HONORED WITH ASIAN AMERICAN HUMANITARIAN AWARD 2013 
            Schiller Park, IL 
             Dr. Amarjit Singh MD, past president of Indian American 
              Medical Association of Illinois (IAMA), a trauma center emergency physician,              and a down to earth humanitarian was honored by Asian Chronicle USA TV              Channel with the Asian American Humanitarian Award 2013 and lifetime              volunteer service medal of honor. 
              
            The award ceremony took place on Nov. 24, 2013 at a dinner banquet at              Sheraton Four Points Hotel, in Schiller Park, Illinois where more than 300              guests mostly Asian Americans of Chicago attended the event. The program            included musical entertainment. 
              
            Dr. Amarjit Singh was born in Burma to parents of Indian origin settled in              Burma. Later on his family moved to India. He graduated from Maulana Azad              Medical College, New Delhi, India in 1977. After his medical degree Dr.              Singh worked in Zambia, Africa and the United Kingdom prior to immigrating              to the United States where he settled in the Chicago area. 
              In Chicago area, since the past 20 years Dr. Singh worked at the Cook County              Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital, and is currently an attending physician              in the Emergency Department of Mount Sinai Hospital and Level 1 Trauma 
            Center. 
              
            
              -               Dr. Singh has been deeply involved in providing volunteer services to his              medical professional organizations, the Asian American community, and the              local community at large.
 
              -                 Dr. Amarjit Singh is the past President of Indian American Medical              Association of Illinois (IAMA) in 2005.
 
              - Recently Dr. Singh was the Convention Treasurer of the 2013 National                Convention of the Association of American Physicians from India (A.A.P.I.)                held in Chicago .
 
              -                 Dr. Singh is also the Membership Chair of Association of American Emergency                Physicians from India (A.A.E.M.I.).
 
                On the community development side Dr. Singh was also the Chairman of the                Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago in 2011 and 2012. 
              - Dr. Singh is a regular Volunteer physician at the Sikh Religious Society                community center in Palatine Illinois, and also at the Indian American                Medical Association of Illinois (IAMA) charitable clinic in Chicago, where                on the weekends on his own time he provides free medical services and                consultations to the needy patients.
 
              - Dr. Singh has participated in several teaching missions to Burma and India                to share his medical knowledge and education with medical students.
 
             
                          Dr. Amarjit Singh is married with 3 children, and lives in Burr Ridge, Ill. 
            The Asian Humanitarian Award is given annually by the Asian Chronicle TV              channel to individuals and families which are cohesive role models for              others to emulate, extend numerous civic and community services here and/or              in their native countries, and they impact the positive image of Asians in              America. 
             
            About AC USA TV:              Asian Chronicle USA is a television program on public access cable broadcast              in 90 suburban communities of Chicagoland area. The program started in 1997              is a labor of love and service to the Asian American community-at-large by              professionally trained crew extending their services pro-bono. 
            About PCS Chicago:              Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (P.C.S.) is a non-profit 501 (c) 3              organization promoting education, good citizenship, community development,              civic commitment and involvement, and preserving Punjabi Culture, language,              sports and performing arts.
