200 guests celebrate the retirement party of Dr. Jayendra Shah
at his residence in Long Beach, California.

A retirement isn't just the end of a career; it's also the beginning
of a new phase of the retiree's. No more traffic jams on the way
to work and no more late hours at the office make this one of
the best times of the retiree's life. Celebrate the new beginning,
not the end and you're set up for a great retirement party.
On April 10 and April 11 2009, two events took place celebrating
the retirement of Dr. Jayendra Shah from Los Angeles County at
his residence in Long Beach, California. Dr. Jayendra Shah retired
from his Los Angeles County position as Physicians Specialist
after 33-years. Dr. Shah received a Congressional certificate
of recognition for his community work from honorable Congresswoman
Linda Sanchez. Parties were held celebrating his illustrious medical
career and his dedication and hard work for the Indian community.
Dr. Jayendra Shah was a major and flight surgeon in the United
States Air Force. His involvement in numerous charitable events
and his service to the Indian community as President of FIA were
recognized and admired. Dr. Jayendra Shah’s sons, daughter
in laws and six grand children attended the weekend events.
On Friday April 10, 2009 a Pooja was held at Dr. Shah’s
residence. The priest from the Sanathan Dharam Temple Mr. Siva
Ramji performed the Pooja. Mr.Harendra Bhatt recited the Satyanarayana
katha. After enjoying the prasad and dinner a special program
was held dedicated to Mataji Chowki. A night of kirtan was performed
by Mr. Amit Anand and was enjoyed by over 200 guests including
friends and family. The devotional kirtan praising Durga mata,
lord Krishna and other deities were beautifully sung by Mr. Anand
and Mr. Vishal of Ashirwad group.
On Saturday April 11, 2009, over 150 friends and family attended
a gala musical party. The musical entertainment was presented
by Kashish entertainment. The guests enjoyed beautiful songs from
the present and the past. The guests sang along with a lot of
their favorite songs and the dance floor was crowded when Kashish
sang some of the more popular dance songs of today. The main singers
were Mr.Amit Anand, Ms.Deepali and Mr. Vishal. Ms. Parul Shah
was the emcee of the program. Ashoka restaurant catered the event
on Saturday night. A few speeches were made by the family members,
highlighting Dr. Shah’s commitment to the society and his
work. Dr. Shah’s children emphasized how they were exposed
to people from all walks of life and were always taught to respect
people of all color, religious faith and economic status.
It was a weekend filled with spiritual beauty and melodious
music. The weekend celebrating Dr. Shah’s retirement was
a success in a grand scale. Two nights of beautiful music and
delicious food were enjoyed by all. Dr. Shah’s wife, Usha
Shah, organized the parties.
