The highlight of the function was the singers, Samir Date and Dipalee Somaiya who are very well known in the music industry and who definitely captured the attention of the audience. Samir has been the playback singer for numerous hindi films like Parampara, Jazbaat, Fauj and more recently, Emotional Atyachar and Hang Up. Samir has worked with Yash Chopra, Asha Bhosle and other bollywood artists. Samir had made various TV appearances, including in SA-RE-GA-MA has a judge. Dipalee represented Gujarat State in the SA RE GA MA mega challenge and was a winner and won the hearts of audiences and the judges. Her recently released solo for the film CHOORIYAN has been very well received.
The Presidents Address, elucidated what Ekal Vidhyalaya Foundation was all about. It was fascinating to know that Ekal currently has a million students who are being educated under this one teacher school program which captures the rural and tribal areas of India. None of this could have been possible without the generous contributions of the millions.
The objective of the Ekal Organization is to make India literate and focus on the 65.4% of the rural India which is still illiterate. India has excelled at all levels and has gone far beyond the educational level of most countries in the world. We cannot surpass challenges, be competitive in the world or expect to be a Super Power some day unless we have 100% Literate India.
