NRI, Ash Jain joins US State Department's Bureau of Arms Control

WASHINGTON, JULY 28, 2004

NRI, attorney Ash Jain has been appointed special assistant in the US State Department's Bureau of Arms Control to work on regional and strategic security issues dealing primarily with South Asia and the Middle East.

He will serve as a special assistant in the Bureau headed by Assistant Secretary Stephen Rademaker, Indian American Republican Council chairman R Vijayanagar said.

Ash Jain served as Deputy Associate Director at the Office of Global Communications. Jain previously worked as General Counsel to the National Capital Planning Commission and for US Senator Fred Thompson as Majority Counsel to the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, the first Indian American to serve in such a position.

Vijayanagar praised attorney Jain and noted that he is "the highest-ranking Indian American in the Agency."
