JUST ONE
DAY Before PUNJAB POLES- more than 1,400 liquor boxes,
13 kg of poppy husk seized from NRI’s house
False ID Cards,
firing and missing persons reported
Chandigarh, February 12, 2007

The Punjab Police along with the
duty magistrate and naib tehsildar seized more than 1,400 boxes
of liquor (“Made in Patran” was written on the bottles)
from a locked house. The house belong to a NRI, Balwant Singh.
Police also found 13 kg of poppy husk from a parked car near the
house.
It is also said that NRI Balwant
Singh is very close to Congress candidate Kewal Dhillon, who is
contesting from Barnala. Mr. Dhillon's house is just 50 yards
away from NRI's house. Mr Dhillon said that the material had been
planted by his opponent and SAD candidate, Mr Malkiat Singh Keetu,
to defame him. It is not clear that how NRI and NRI's house is
involved in such a dangerous stuff. NRIs
are supporting both parties but one neighbor said NRIs should
be very careful from this dirty politics.
