NRI Canadian resident Rajwinder Singh alias Raja and Paramjit
Kaur were arrested with $ 1 million heroin near Zirakpur, 4 miles
from Chandigarh. They had carved false cavities in the bags and
spread a layer of carbon in an attempt to dodge sniffer dogs and
airport X-ray machines.
A Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) intercepted their vehicle near
Zirakpur light point after collecting information about the two
accused for the past one month.
Paramjit Kaur first denied that the bags were hers, but later
admitted to being their owner. But she said that she had no idea
about the contraband. NCB director concluded that Paramjit Kaur
was being used as a drugs carrier while Rajwinder Singh alias
Raja was the key person involved in the case.
Paramjit Kaur was travelling to Delhi for her confirmed booking
to Canada.
The NRI Gangs of Vancouver may be responsible for sending these
people to India for smuggling drugs to North America
A recent poll in Vancouver suggests that many residents blame
South Asians in general and Indo-Canadians specifically for the
violence and crime in their city:
According to the Vancouver Sun, Nearly two-thirds of respondents
to an Ipsos Reid poll believe some ethnic groups are more responsible
for crime than others, and they put Indo-Canadian and Asians at
the top of their lists.
Of those in the poll who held ethnic groups most responsible,
56 per cent specifically identified Indian/East Indian
and 45 per cent listed Asian/Oriental, the newspaper
reported March 16.
