NRI Bhupinder Jatana is facing multiple weapon and firearm charges
and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the
purpose of trafficking. The Abbotsford Police Department has shut
down a home in Abbotsford which is believed have been operating
as a distribution centre for street-level drug trafficking in
the city
Members of the Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team (MIERT)
and the Abbotsford Drug Squad served the search warrant yesterday
afternoon after a several week investigation into the activites
of a home located in the 33500 block of Rainbow Ave. Once inside,
police located a male sleeping in a bedroom of the house with
a loaded 9 mm handgun under his pillow. He was taken into custody
without incident.
In addition to locating an estimated $10,000 cash and a variety
of drug paraphernalia police seized the following:
- 4 handguns loaded or with loaded magazines next to them
- 2 machine guns with ammunition
- 2 silencers
- 2 rifles
- 1/2 kg of cocaine
- a variety of gun parts for other automatic weapons
- ammunition
- several high capacity magazines
- balaclavas
- tazer and cartridges
- evidence of a grow operation
- 1/4 lb of marijuana
- body armor
The weapons seized are dangerous and capable of inflicting serious
harm. This weaponry highlights some of the firepower police are
facing more and more often. Given the amount of drugs, cash and
weapons police believe this operation is connected to a larger
network of organized crime operating in Abbotsford- a group police
are familiar with.
