Growing number of abductions worries home

A NON-RESIDENT Indian and his brother are kidnapped at a village on the outskirts of Bharuch in Gujarat and released on a ransom of Rs2.5m; an Abu Dhabi-based ...

OPINION:

"I myself have little hope for change, but I'm happy to see that the younger generation consults its hopes and not its fears"

Dear Readers:

It is not surprise me that when I read the above article written by Mr. MOIZ MANNAN, in the leading Newspaper in Qatar, the following request was took from my article which was written under "INDIA SHINNING -IS THIS REALITY OR MYTH ?"

"We, NRIs are very honest, hard worker, sincere from inside to help our brothers and sisters in India and to make 'India Shinning'," says one NRI activist. "In return, if NRIs are being cheated, tortured or kidnapped and specially no help from police in this kind of situations- there will be a great loss for future investment in India by NRIs and foreign companies. Only one case of kidnapping… makes a difference."

Gary Singh, another NRI activist, sounds really concerned when he says: "We humbly request to all IPS, IAS (officials), and judges of India, to please take immediate steps for the safety of all NRIs. God has given you a great power for the welfare of more than a billion people."

---------------------------------------------

Now you can see that the how Internet is helping NRIs from North American to Guelph to Australia, and how do they share their opinions and like to help India. Most of the NRIs have the same feelings as Mr. MOIZ MANNAN described in his article. We, NRIs are trying to get a benefit of the Internet revolution and this is a great benefit to Indian entrepreneurs to attract NRI business men. Now Indian entrepreneurs and NRIs like to do big projects in India but bureaucrats must become very sincere to handle this great opportunity. If they can't handle the Growing number of abductions in India, believe us, NRIs second generation will stop their parents to invest in India.

LOOK THE EXAMPLE OF UK-based businessman Protul Deb. His daughter Shipra arrived in India last month for the third time to appeal for help in tracing Protul who was abducted in Assam a year ago. Shipra's father, 67-year-old Protul Deb, left the UK to come back to India in 2000 and set up a bamboo business in Assam....

Two weeks back, our reporter contacted her for the progress of her trip to India. Her answer was, "She tried to meet all kind of authorities in New Delhi but there is no sincere progress and positive answer or hope she got. Some honest people suggest her that don't waste her time because she is NRI has no value.........."

I believe that there are some honest people in India that pity on NRIs during these kinds of situations. They understand that who will listen her if kidnappers have great force behind them to cover up.

We always bet and proud that India is No.1 democratic country in the world but why it had a failure to implement a democratic constitution. Our Indian politician's common error in political dialogue today is the interchangeable use of the words "democracy" and "Freedom," as though they mean the same thing. They definitely do not; in fact, democracy can be a severe threat to freedom and individualism. Democracy has enormous benefits but also democracy has the most dangers. We had better prepare for it so we take advantage of the benefits and avoid the dangers. Democracy is potentially the best of all forms of society and government; it is also one of the most dangerous forms of all society and government. Aristocracy, monarchy, and such forms were quickly dying out in the West and that democracy was the wave of the future. I myself have little hope for change, but I'm happy to see that the younger generation consults its hopes and not its fears

Now, India's responsible bureaucrats must understand that they must have to use their power to implement effectively. We don't blame politicians because:

  • They are selected by uneducated people of villages and the on the bases of religious tricks
  • Most of the leaders are not very educated
  • For the past 30 year, we have evaluated them when they came here to meet us and NRIs had a bad experience with Govt. projects

But some politician are very honest (example of Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi), they like to see India shinning. Leaders come and go but bureaucrats have a permanent position. If bureaucrats become very strict, thing will move very fast. The bad thing is that bureaucrats are also stamped by parties and they should do what is good for the country. They were selected by their qualification to serve the country not to follow politicians who are playing the life of the one billion people. Thanks for you time to read this article. God bless NRIs who always have in side feelings to do some thing there.

Gary Singh
Good wisher for India shinning
