Yuba City Tiyaan, a huge success
with more than 5000 womens wearing colorful clothes

Few years back the punjabi womens of california had always been seen talking about how they celebrated festival of Tian which was exclusively for and by women, back in Punjab. But in recent years few women organizations realized the need and started efforts to celebrate the festival.
International Organization of Punjabi Women (IOPW) is one such organization in California which took initiative and started organizing the festival and is one of the most awaited get-together among women in the region.

Approximately 5 to 6 thousand women participated in this years “Yuba Ciity Tian” held at Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds and seemed like the rainbow with womens wearing colorful clothes and Jewelry reflecting the punjabi culture. The stage was beautifully decorated with the items like CHarkha, Fulkari, Kunjey , Manji etc to give a look and feel of punjab. The enviorment indeed felt like a punjab on stage.

The programme started aroung 11AM in the morning with an opening welcome by the president of IOPW Inc, Mrs, Parminder Kaur Thakkar who warm heartedly welcomed all the women who took time and became part of the mega event exclusively for and by women and handed over the stage to Mrs, Asha Sharma.
Asha Sharma continued to be the stage co-ordinator for next 6 hours in which various programs were presented by the community womens.

Small girls from Guru Ram Das Khalsa school presented Shabad on stage and then there was a main attraction of a fashion show representing the culture of punjab. Dimple Bains’s team preformed gidda which left a memorable experience within the audiences. Other various groups performed among which few did punjabi songs.

The whole colorful program once again brought the memories of punjab through the showcase of talent by the local artists and punjabi women groups.
