“Taste of India” on Pioneer, Artesia jam-packed during annual mela

On June 21, an annual “Taste of India” festival has proved a colourful and resounding success with awash with brightly coloured banners, traditional food stalls, shopping booths, carnivals, fashion shows, and musical concerts along the closed street from 183rd to 188th, Pioneer, Artesia, California. 
This event was organized by Little India team- Mr. Toni, Gurpal Sood, Fiaz and Ishwar and with co-sponsor of City of Artesia. An estimated over 6000 people thronged the Pioneer Street at around 8pm, making this event the biggest and most successful mela at Artesia.

Performances by Brijesh and Shobhana. Singer Rex D’Souza, Silver Star Orchestra as well as the popular duo Nafis Anand and Jr. Dev Anand. were a real crowd pleaser. DJ Desi Heartbeat kept the audience entertained through the day with a mixture of Bollywood and mixture of different Indian and American music.

Models from all ethnic backgrounds walked the runway with myriad ensembles from business wear to evening wear. The owner of Frontier Heritage, Nita Asija was also there to represent her showcase collection.
 
The American people, who were from surrounding cities, were really impressed with the turnout, the talents showcased at the cultural programs and the celebratory feeling at the mela.
“We, Little India organized team would like to thank those who support to raise the funding and those who gave funding and we are particularly grateful for the support of City of Artesia,” said Gurpal Sood.
