IASC, Laguna Woods NRIs and Chicago club members celebrate Mother's day

Most countries including US, Australia, Canada and India celebrate Mothers Day on the second Sunday of May. NRI Seniors of Laguna woods and Chicago club members celebrated Mother's day on June 1st, 2014 at Laguna Woods Club One , in the city of Laguna woods. The event was organized by Indian Association of Southern California with the help of local NRIs of Laguna woods. The event started with delicious Indian dinner catered by Haveli restaurant of Artesia. Sitar music was playing while guest were enjoying dinner.
Ranjit vishwanath, Rinu Mukharji and Atul Makhwana, members of the organizing committee of IASC started the show with welcome greetings on behalf of the organization. Atul Makhwana invited kamini Khare, founder member of IASC on the stage to create magical moment on the stage. She thanked all the dedicated organizing committee members for their help. Since India had national elections recently, Kamini invited all other committee members Ravi, Challam, Anjana Patel, Dr. Dhamija , Chitra passi, Amarjeet Dhamija, Nila Parikh, Dipal and prakash pancholi. Charumathi Shivakumar also on the stage with chief guest Dr. Krishna Reddy and Dr. Milan Chakraborty from Hemet to felicitate newly elected Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi.
"We all have big hopes from new administration of Prime minister Honorable Modiji, said Dr. Reddy in his brief speech. "We all want to see prosperous and peaceful India that would create opportunities for everyone."
" East to west and north to south all Hindustani are standing on the stage to give Mr. Modi full salute from far away land of opportunity for every one America the beautiful," said Kamini Khare
A guest from the audience Annette Howard who follows Indian politics for some time also spoke few words in his appreciation and send her best wishes for India.
Kamini khare thanked Mr. Avdhesh Agarwal, Dr. Krishna Reddy, Suresh and Nalini Bhatti for their sponsorship of this event. With their help we are able to accommodate all the children for free in every program. She also added that they have been supporting IASC ‘s cultural, social and religious activities for a long time. Due to their prior engagement, Mr. Avdesh Agarwal and Suresh Bhatti and Nalini were not present at the occasion but they had send their best wishes to all the performers and organizing committee members.
Tony from Chicago club was invited on the stage to sing American National anthem and it was followed with Indian National Anthem sang by all the committee members and the guests.
The dance show was anchored by Dipal and Charu. The dance show started with an elegant dance by Astha Priyadarshini Sahoo. The other Dance performances were provided by Anaya , Uma Joshi, Anika, Nunes, Prisha Mewada, Shweta, Neeva Mehta, Siya Chava, Maitri Kumar, Purvi Pheni, Janvi, Prisha and Akshita of Adaa Dance Academy, Choreographed by Apra Gupta, Saochi Yuvika, Sanjana , Priyanka and Masha by Dhanvi Dance Academy choreographed by Hiral Doshi. Rakesh, Jasmin, Ravi and Ranjit did a Punjabi Mother’s day dance number Choreographed by Vijaya Bhanu of Sri Sakti Sarade Kalaniketan.
All the dance items by children and the Asami dance performed by Kristy, and Kathak Sufee style dance performed by Reina were well received by the audience.
American guests were mesmerized by all the dance items and clapped non stop to encourage the young artists.
Next segment of the show was live music by Saikat chakraborty, Gopal Chatterjee, Srabani Mukherjee from Hemet. They sang old and new songs with pop music that brought audience on the dance floor. Dr. Kailash Dhamija, Amarjeet Dhamija and Smita Dass delightful singers of the local community enchanted the guest with many single and duet old song.
Dance items were judged by Dr. Reddy, Manjula president of Laguna woods Indian club and member of Chicago club Lorretta Shepart and Carol. They had difficult time to decide the first and second but finally they declared the winner. First dance winner trophy went to eleven years old Ashtha Saho.
Dhanvi Dance Academy of Hiral Doshi won the trophy for best costume and the best dance move. First and second place trophy for Dance performance went to Adaa Dance academy group of Apra Gupta.
All the singers were recognized for their talent by Iasc with a medal. Trophy and medal were given by chief guest of Dr. Krishna Reddy. All the children were given token gift of mini lantern and candy to take home. All the mothers were given beautiful metal mini basket with Good luck Rudraksh beads and a pack of incense. All the gifts were donated by Mr.Suresh and Nalini Bhatti.
Show ended with high note of pop music by Saikat Chakraborty. It was a delightful evening enjoyed by every one..
