IASA Lights Up Southern California with Grand Diwali Celebration

Southern California, Nov. 2, 2024—The Indian American Social Association (IASA) brought Southern California together for a grand celebration of Diwali, India’s most cherished festival celebrated by more than a billion people around the globe. The event radiated the colorful spirit of Diwali, featuring stunning decor, Bollywood performances, delicious cuisine, and a night full of music, marking an unforgettable evening for the 500 attendees who gathered from diverse backgrounds to celebrate Indian culture.

IASA’s executive team, led by President / Founder  Mr. Rajbir Singh Taneja  and his wife Mrs. Jasmine Kaur, warmly welcomed the esteemed guest of honor, Mayor of Cerriots  Naresh Solanki, along with many other distinguished guests. Founded in 2020 by Mr. Singh and a small group of passionate individuals, IASA has grown remarkably, now boasting over 500 members and an array of honorary supporters.

The evening was filled with highlights, beginning with an enchanting Bollywood segment. Singer Rashmi Kate captivated the audience with her soulful voice, while dancer Vinani Jayasinghe, an artist with over 24 million YouTube followers, delivered a mesmerizing performance that earned a standing ovation. Jayasinghe’s piece was directed by Dr Sinduri  Jayasinghe, founder of Savithri Arts Academy in Los Angeles, and it beautifully showcased the depth and beauty of Indian dance.

As the night progressed, the celebration reached its peak with a lively concert by the renowned Sufi and Bollywood singer Yash Wadali. His electrifying performance transformed the event into a true Diwali party, with guests flocking to the dance floor to share in the joyful spirit.

True to tradition, IASA took time to honor distinguished community leaders. Dr. Manoj Shah, Chief and Associate Professor in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Loma Linda University, was recognized for his contributions to medicine, alongside Mr. Mahesh Wadher, a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist who has made a significant impact on the community. Mr. Singh also acknowledged Mr. Ravi Marwaha and Dr. Bharat Patel for their continuous guidance and financial support along with Many other supporters which have helped IASA grow and thrive.

Mayor Solanki commended IASA’s commitment to the community, describing it as a leading association in Southern California. He assured the audience of his ongoing support for future IASA initiatives, especially projects focused on homelessness and mental health.

With delicious food by Swad of India ,the artistry of talented emcees Meenu Jain & Pritpaul singh , and a rich program of music and dance, IASA’s Diwali celebration was a night that brought generations and communities together, embodying the festival’s universal message of joy, unity, and goodwill. Seema maithel & Paul Sukhwal ji captured many happy moments with their lenses .

Mr. Rajbir Singh extended his heartfelt gratitude to the core executive / donor  committee of IASA for their unwavering support, invaluable guidance, and steadfast commitment throughout the event. The success of the event was made possible by the dedication and expertise of this distinguished committee, whose members bring a wealth of knowledge and diverse backgrounds.
