 IAFC hosted OCI workshop in Dallas organized by CGI, Houston was very successful

Consul General of India, Houston organized OCI workshop in Dallas with the help of Indian American Friendship Council (IAFC),  the India Association of North Texas (IANT) and DFW area Indian Community Organizations on Saturday, August 20th at Park Plaza Tower in Dallas, TX.

Three officers from the CGI, Houston office Consul Mr. R.D. Joshi, Mr. Rakesh Sharma and Mr. Chandra Sen rendered invaluable services from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm to more than 150 people with utmost care and smile. Mr. Taiyab Kundawala, Executive Vice President of IAFC coordinated and made all arrangements at this camp very effectively to serve the community in a better way. 

Dr. Prasad Thotakura, IAFC President said, "Usually, we always hear many complaints against CGI office but it is very heartening to hear all compliments from the hundreds of people who attended this OCI Workshop about CGI officer’s commitment to serve, host organization IAFC for making meticulous arrangements and dedicated volunteers for spending many hours of their valuable time. My special thanks to Hon. CGI Dr. Anupam Ray for his vision, leadership and out of Box thinking approach to serve the NRI community very effectively.”

Mr. Taiyab Kundawala, Executive Vice President, IAFC said “ CGI officers spent at least ten to fifteen minutes time with every OCI applicant, verified their application forms, supporting documents to approve or suggest to provide additional information if needed. We are very thankful to Hon., Park Plaza Tower Management for providing the elegant venue with fully equipped Audio/Visual system, complimentary water, beverages etc., to all attendees throughout the day, supporting organization IANT, many India based organizations and dedicated volunteers who spent their valuable time in serving the community”.    

Mr. Rao Kalvala, IAFC Vice President, Mr. John Hammond, IAFC Secretary, Dr. Niranjan Tripathy along with Mr. Taiyab Kundawala, IAFC Executive Vice-President greeted and received all community members at this camp with smile, answered all their questions throughout the day before they see OCI officers for service.

Mr. Narasimha Bakthula (B.N.), IANT Secretary, Mr. Sailesh Shah, IANT Board of Director and Mr. Mujeeb Syed, NASIM Board of Director provided invaluable services and helped to make this OCI workshop successful.

Mr. Abid Abedi - IAFC Advisory Board of Director, Mrs. Indu Mandadi - IANT President, Mr. Salman Farshori - IANT President-elect, IANT Trustees - Mrs. Shabnam Modgil, Mr. Sudhir Parikh and Mr. Jack Godhwani visited the OCI Workshop as a show of support and appreciated the invaluable services.

Dr. Anupam Ray opened its doors to address the grievances of the Texas NRI community. He like to help all matters related to passports and visa problems

• He is a physician by education, M.A. in Public Administration and speaks English, German and Hindi. He was a Neuro-surgery resident before he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994. He has held key diplomatic assignments as Political Officer in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Desk Officer, as manager of India’s successful campaign for the position of Commonwealth Secretary-General out of London, and as a senior member of the Indian team in the UN Security Council in New York. He was the first employee of India’s outgoing aid agency (Development Partnership Administration) created in 2012. He is married to Amit Goldberg, MD, and has two children.
