San Diego, California, NRI to build second five-star hotel in Gujarat

NRI Ashok Israni, an entrepreneur, CEO of Pacifica Companies at San Diego, California will build 2nd five story hotel in Gujrat, sources said. His company made a bid of Rs.240 million to Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) to acquire a land .

The first hotel project in Gujarat is a five-star business class hotel in association with the Marriott International lodging company. It will be the largest five-star hotel in Gujarat with 160 rooms Its construction is about to begin any time.

He became a computer engineer after receiving his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Loyola University. He served in management positions at NCR Corporation and National Semiconductor.

In 1978 he began to buy and sell residential property in California and established Pacifica Companies in San Diego. In 2003, Pacifica was ranked the number two home builder in San Diego and rose to number one in the first quarter of 2005, according to San Diego Metropolitan Magazine

His company owns hotels, office and industrial buildings, retail shopping centers, apartment projects and single-family communities throughout the United States. Pacifica has nearly $2 billion in assets

Pacifica Hosts Inc. of Pacifica Companies is also managing over 30 hotels of various sizes including 600-room hotel at the Los Angeles International Airport.

In 2007, Ashok Israni has been elected to the Boards of Directors of the corporation and its subsidiary, City National Bank.
