Partap Singh Bajwa, appointed president of Punjab pradesh congress committee

THE STATEMENT OF S.PARTAP SINGH BAJWA,MP,PRESIDENT, PPCC AT AMRITSAR

I have come to this historic city today to pay obeisance and seek blessings at Sri Harimandir Sahib , Durgiana Temple and Ram Tirath after my elevation as President of  PPCC. Besides this, I have also paid my homage to our Martyrs of freedom struggle at Jallianwala Bagh to renew my pledge to fulfill their dreams of making India a strong and vibrant nation.

With the blessings of Almighty, our Party President Sonia Gandhi ji, Vice President Rahul Gandhi ji and the Hon” Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have reposed faith in me and given me the responsibility of heading the PPCC. As you are aware, the Congress has a national character with distinguished recognition at the international scene. Its precious legacy is based on values of secularism, democratic norms, justice to all, inclusive growth of the country. The party has always strongly advocated the cause of farmers, have-nots, labour class, rural and urban  masses , scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and struggled hard to upgrade their lives through action oriented approach.
It will be my earnest endeavor to strengthen the party cadres in the state by reaching out to every worker at the grass-root level and reactivating the different wings of the Congress particularly NSUI, mahila congress and youth congress. My special attention will be to promote Punjabi unity with no ill-will to any section of society or political group. During my political career I have remained strong believer of consensus with ultimate aim of welfare of people. This all can be achieved with the cooperation of my party colleagues, leaders and workers of all ranks. I hold the Press and Media in high esteem because of their significant role in a democratic system and I am always open to constructive criticism and feedback with all humility

I am taking a challenging responsibility at a time when the state is in a political chaos and financial instability. The people of the state are feeling insecure and reeling under oppression and fear under deteriorating law and order situation. The respect for women and children is on low priority of the ruling party. Punjab today is in financial crisis due to misconceived policies and programmes of the  SAD(B) + BJP government, despite the fact that the UPA Government at the Centre has been constantly giving liberal grants under various centrally sponsored schemes. As President of the Congress party, I will study the whole scenario and discuss all these issues at the party forum to chalk out a strategy for forcefully combating these deteorating situations. It will be my endeavor to take every leader and worker of the party along and give due respect to everyone in the state unit. The party will soon launch a Mass contact programme in the state to reinvigorate the party rank and file across the state. Our party will make special efforts to check violence against women and children, protection of the interest of farmers, labour class, minorities, scheduled castes and other weaker sections of society. Better employment opportunities for the youth and the unemployed people will also be on our priority agenda. The agriculture and industrial economy will be our focus areas. The interests of traders and business community will be fully taken care of in our policies and programmes

I seek cooperation from every Punjabi especially Congress party workers for fulfilling my mission of putting ‘PUNJAB FIRST’ in different areas of socio-economic development not only in the national scene but also at the global level. I am confident that with the blessings of God and support of the Central Congress leadership I will be able to make the state party unit as a model, with a noble mission of SARBAT DA BHALA (service to all).
