Another victorious week for Sanjaya Malakar on American Idol!
Howard Stern
has now thrown his weight behind Sanjaya

On Wednesday, NRI Sanjaya Malakar has advanced to another round as a bout with the flu forced crooner Tony Bennett to cancel a live performance.

Sanjaya is the true Web superstar of this season’s “American Idol.” In recent weeks, he has moved a 13-year-old girl to tears on national TV. One woman on MySpace claimed to be going on a hunger strike until he was voted off, although other Web observers suggested she appeared to have gained weight during the “strike.” In any event, she called it off before Tuesday’s show, and her page is now set to private. A recent item headlined, “Reverse Votefortheworst- Petition to kick Sanjaya off of American Idol,” drew a couple of thousand responses by Wednesday. This followed the posts, “Painful Sanjaya Moments: Submit Your Favorite” and “Sanjaya’s Circus Act Continues.” It’s far more likely that Sanjaya survived at least into the Top 9 because of, yes, his oft-discussed hair. He’s the only male singer with the kind of feminized cuteness that pre-teen females, a primary fan base of the show, find irresistible.

Howard Stern has now thrown his weight behind Sanjaya. This could mean trouble for many of the other contestants. Howard earns an incredible $588 every minute of that show making him the second highest celebrity earner after Steven Spielberg who makes $647 every minute. His show hit Number 1 in NYC, L.A., Washington DC and Philadelphia, PA

The power of Howard Stern completely overwhelming the most popular show on television as the flamboyant and marginally talented contestant avoids the bottom three. Howard Stern, from his perch as the superstar of a medium for truckers, has gotten involved in promoting it and because Malakar outlasted many better singers.

Robert Paul Reyes of mensnewsdaily, says:

There’s Cher, Oprah, Madonna, and now you can add “Sanjaya” to the list of celebrities known only by their first name.
Sanjaya is no innocent, if the American public wants a circus he is happy to oblige. He gives us weird hairstyles, crazy outfits and idiotic smiles in lieu of talent.

Sanjaya is the perfect American Idol for a society where fame trumps integrity, talent, intelligence and even money.I urge everyone to vote for Sanjaya! He represents every one of us, he is us – look in the mirror and a young punk in a ponyhawk will be staring back at you.

Jewels Richardson of BC. TV said:

It completely fit into the British Invasion theme. I remember when the Beatles came to America, television news on every one of our three available stations were filled with black and white images of screaming, semi-fainting, crying girls. Words from Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm". Sanjaya that was great.

Sanjaya Malakar's crazy, yet cool for its wild abandon, performance this week on Idol, certainly was a buzz-worthy endeavor on the young contestant's part. I admit this because I can be truly pathetic, but I was cheering like Sanjaya had won the Superbowl of Idol, when he broke free of his formerly shy demeanor.

------

There is some rumors that singer Sanjaya Malakar is getting a support from his father's homeland but it is not true. It is interesting to know that the show is broadcast a day late in India and some english tv channels are relaying this program which does not attract many viewers

Sanjaya survived elimination Wednesday night to make it to the final eight. He was not even among the bottom three vote-getters in this week's competition.

Every year on American Idol there always seems to be one contestant who takes the blame for every other contestant getting eliminated. During American Idol 3, it was Jasmine Trias. During American Idol 4, it was Scott Savol. During American Idol 5, it was Kevin Covais. This year, it is Sanjaya Malakar.

Often the American Idol fall guy (or girl) doesn’t do anything to deserve the ire of viewers, other than survive in the competition while other popular contestants get eliminated. However, this year the show and the judges seem to be contributing to the animosity toward Sanjaya Malakar. For the last four weeks, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has paired Sanjaya Malakar up on stage as the final one left with the last to be eliminated contestant. (Not that Ryan Seacrest should take the blame, because he is likely only following the script that producers have given him.)

First, Sanjaya Malakar was paired with Rudy Cardenas, then with AJ Tabaldo, then with Sundance Head, and most recently with Brandon Rogers. Such a pairing means that many of Rudy, AJ, Sundance and Brandon’s fans are likely going to blame Sanjaya for their favorite’s elimination and voice their anger on American Idol message boards. And it’s not that Sanjaya Malakar is getting paired up because he’s always the next lowest vote getter, because when Sanjaya went up against Rudy, Ryan Seacrest revealed that he was in the top four vote getters. But thanks to the democratizing power of the Web, the show this year has been all about Sanjaya.
