Vaisakhi Celebration 2009 at LA

The Palm Spring Gurdwara celebrated Vaisakhi Night 2009, Friday May 22. At a beautiful Diamond Bar Community Center, Diamond Bar, CA. They invited a very famous Punjabi singer Ravinder Grewal and his group from India for this evening.

Music lovers started entering the hall at 7 PM and it was full right away. The Hors D’oeuvres and drinks were being served and it lasted for about 45 minutes.

At 8:00 PM Mr. Jaswant S. Shaad took the podium, introduced and welcomed the guests. He highlighted the program and invited the Bhangra group Amar Lok Nach Bhangra.

The Bhangra team Boys/Girls had an elegant Green outfits and gave a wonderful performance for 5 minutes. It was great and every one enjoyed.

Then at 8:15 a very talented young Punjabi comedian Rana Ranbir took over the floor. This man is unbelievable funny. He made everyone laughed. People started jumping from chairs and could not stop laughing. Rana has produced a film told the audience that his film “Munda UK Da” is being released today.

At 8:22 a young lady singer Maninder Gill started with a religious song “Chan Mata Gujri Da” followed by four more songs and did a wonderful job.

Again the MC Rana entertained the audience for 15 minutes and made people laugh with very funny jokes and Sher-o-Shairy.

At 9:00 PM the delicious dinner was served and again the program started.

At 9:10 PM another great singer Jarnail Joshi sang some much hit songs and people started dancing on the dance floor along with his music.

Comedian Rana entertained the audience again with comedy singing and jokes and introduced young lady singer Gulej Akhtar. She sang the first song “Chan Kidan Gujari Sari Raat Va” plus 5 more Punjabi songs and the audience enjoyed it.

And finally at 10:45 PM Rana Ranbir comes on the stage cracked some jokes and announce that star of the evening you have been waiting eagerly for Ravinder Grewal is making the entrance on the stage. People started clapping and screaming to listen the favorite singer.

Ravinder entered the stage in beautiful shades of Blak/Grey Kurta, Lacha, Khussa and beautifully tied turban. He looked very fresh, relaxed, handsome and confident young man. His first number was “Charon Pasey Sukh Hon, Kisey Noon a Dukh Hon”. After that his famous and hit song one after another Like “Gulabi Pag, Raula Pa Giya, Mefil Mitran Di, Hat Pichey and Tedi Pag etc. His songs were so magnetic that people young and old, male and female all ran to the dance floor and danced fron start to the end till 12 PM. There must be at least 100+ people on the dance floor at all the time.

Ravinder’s voice, singing and bhangra dance steps performance so impressive that some people were glued to watch him performed. His energy level was beyond our imagination. He wore smile all the time while performing. Throughout the performance clapping was going on. People enjoyed every minute and stated that it was more than the w orth of the money to come here and watch this artist perform.

The catering was done by Paul Ghotra of Diamond Palace, Cuisine of India Diamond Bar, CA.

The following sewadars of Palm Spring Gurdwara arranged the Vaisakhi Celeberation: Avtar Singh Gadria, Harvinder Singh Chandi, Jasminder Singh Dhillon, Satbir Singh Tung, Nirmal Singh Thekedar, Lakhwinder Singh Singh Turna and Ravinder Singh Ravi.
