NRI
comedian's Video On "YouTube" Under controversy in India-
Why?
New York, Jan 16, 2007
Gary Singh
Last Month, Gautham Prasad shot the video and he clad in Gandhi's
trademark attire, pole dancing and stripping for an audience. The
video link was under 'Time to get sexy' on YouTube.com
Today our press reporter contacted
Mr. Prasadhim and he said, "He did not decide to withdraw the
offending video-clip from
www.Youtube.com, since "it is harmless".
I made this video and posted it on the internet as a marketing tool
for my business as a performer. Let me discuss this video from the
point of view of clowning. If you look closely, you can
see that I am wearing a clown nose. Why is this? I do this
because I am not playing Mahatma Gandhi, I am playing a CHARACTER
who is playing Gandhiji. I am playing a fool who thinks it would
be a good idea to dress up like Gandhi and do this dance. In reality,
I'm making fun of myself. I realize this distinction may be difficult
to understand, but as a performer it is crucial."........Full

Is India Still a Democratic
Country?
LA, January, 17, 2007
Ram ji Bhalla
Today India has moved miles away from its legendary tag ‘democratic
country’ means ‘of the people, for the people and by
the people’, however we today are living in absolute ‘Minister
Raaj’
We, NRIs agreed that Manmohan Singh have done a great job to attract
NRIs investment and foreign investment to create jobs and increase
import and export. Most of NRIs like him very much because he is
trying to change the image of India.
We don't understand why Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday said the centre should not remain
silent and the NRI, who allegedly made the film, should be punished.
Is it State leader has the duty to interfere in
India's foreign policy? He must understand that many educated NRIs
from Uttar Pradesh may be not like his statement.
Actually if he is smart, he should do his State's job that for he
elected.
According to our survey, more than 80 percent NRIs
agreed that private citizen in India is doing a great job but Govt.
is still involving in private matters which they should not, FOR
EXAMPKLE:
- News media:
- "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression;
this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference
and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through
any media regardless of frontiers"
- With respect to governmental information, a government distinguishes
which materials are public or protected from disclosure to
the public based on classification of information as sensitive,
classified or secret and being otherwise protected from disclosure
due to relevance of the information to protecting the national
interest.
- In the U.S. this right is guaranteed by the First Amendment
to the United States Constitution
- Family issues, such as 498a
Dowry law
- Rent control
- May 23, 2006: Arundhati Roy told an audience in New
York that she did not agree with Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh’s views in his lecture at the Oxford University praising
Britain for all the good things that India has, like its democracy,
judiciary and bureaucracy. India, she said, was a free market
meant to steal from the poor and subsidize the rich.
- Are We Really Democratic?
Prashanth
- Today we have given power to these few people and we are
expecting them make decisions in favor of us. A wrong move
by one politician creates billions of people to suffer. How
come this is different from anarchy rule? Where is system
which will hear the voices of people, where is that platform
from where I can give my
opinion on the parliament attack? Is there any way we can
get data, from which we can figure out how many people of
India are interested in waging a war against Pakistan? Imagine
if 75% of Indians believe in waging war against Pakistan,
does the government has any right not to attack Pakistan?
Who knows the reaction of people? If we say our country is
democratic, then the opinion of citizen should be given the
highest priority and not of few politicians. Agreed we have
elected them, but that does not mean we have agreed to what
ever they do.
Take the case of America itself, as soon as 9-11 occurred
President Bush declared war on Taliban. But just this statement
didn’t give Bush & Co the full right to go for
war. With in few days whole of American people response
was taken and 93% of the people said they would like go
for war. This 93% people response is what gave America full
rights and it is not Bush & Co decision, it is the American
people decision which made the America to wage a war against
Taliban. Imagine if Bush didn’t wish to wage a war,
could he have avoided? No, when 93% of people said they
are willing to attack Taliban, there was nothing left for
Bush & Co to decide, and his job was to just execute
what is already decided by people. And that is what politician
job. Just to execute the people wishes. No one can take
decision on their own in such matters in a democratic country.
Taking whole country response is possible in America because
they have system where they can gather the response of people
with in days, where as in India where do we have such thing?
- Prakash Loonkar: System has become so unhuman
that every action or reaction of so called sudo seculars is all
and always based on their vote politics of illiterates and unemployed
masses. Now a days persons who uses their brains are in huge minority,
To overcome-people must be made knowledgeable and also let all
understand that nation always comes ahead of religion but individual
faith is solely private and privileged property to be protected
from mischiefs.
