Actor Shelley Malil Arrested For Stabbing ex-girlfriend,
held for $2 million bail

Shelley Malil, 43, best remembered for his award-winning "What
Are You Doing?" Super Bowl commercial for Budweiser bear
in 2001, The “40 Year Old Virgin” actor (comedic actor)
and also worked with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, was charged
with attempted murder for stabbing his former girlfriend more
than 20 times.
According to the police, on Sunday just before 9 p.m. he arrived
at the ex-girlfriend's home in San Marcos and found her in the
back yard with a man. He grabbed two knives and began stabbing
her repeatedly. She was hospitalized in critical condition but
is expected to survive. Her chin and arm got deep wounds. When
her male companion tried to intervene, he was also stabbed in
the hand.

On Monday about 6:15 p.m., Malil, who lives in Sherman Oakswas,
near LA, arrested as he got off an Amtrak train in Oceanside,
where he traveled to meet with his attorney in preparation for
turning himself in to police. He was charged on suspicion of attempted
murder, burglary and mayhem.
On Tuesday, he remained in custody on $2 million bail and his
arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday in Vista, near San Diego.
A spokesman for the San Diego County District Attorney's office
said, he may faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted
on all counts.
The sources
said, "Malil and his ex-girlfriend, recently ended dating
relationship." The police confirmed the ex-girlfriend as
Kendra Beebe, 35 years old. She is mother of two, ages 2 and 4,
were sleeping in the home during the attack. She works as an insurance
broker in Carlsbad, a coastal suburb.
Shelley Malil was born in Kerala, India and emigrated to Texas,
USA in 1974 with his parents. As a child, he had dreams of becoming
a comedic actor like Bob Hope. He began pursuing his dream of
entertaining people on the high school stage
He spent two-year stint at New York's famed American Academy
of Dramatic Arts and came to Hollywood in 1995. He got

Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and on Tracey Ullman's comedy special,
Tracey Takes On.
He is the recipient of:
