A former assistant attorney general of Missouri, NRI,
Mr. Sreenu Dandamudi announced his candidacy for the Democratic primaries
scheduled for August 3, 2004. He was employed by the Missouri Attorney
General's Office in St. Louis for the enforcement of Missouri's child
support laws.
For the past 14 years, he was very active in the Democratic
Party starting in 1990. He has also been a member of Young Democrats
of Greater St. Louis, and served as vice president of Mid-County Young
Democrats representing Clayton, Creve Coeur, Hadley, Midland and University
townships. He was endorsed by Missouri Laborers' Legislative Committee
and Physicians for Sound Healthcare Policy.
The Andhra Pradesh-born Dandamudi, who is running
from the 64th District, resigned from his position in January to enter
the race on a platform of protecting:
- WORKERS' RIGHTS- Jefferson City has recently been
bombarded with proposed legislation to take away the rights of working
men and women in Missouri. Sreenu Dandamudi knows that these rights
were won through hard work and sacrifice and he will work hard to
protect them.
- PUBLIC EDUCATION-Sreenu Dandamudi will work to protect
Missouri's public school system. Missouri's education system is grossly
under-funded and in desperate need of either revamping or an overhaul,
Dandamudi contends, asserting that the state's children have a constitutional
right to a good education and the state legislature is failing to
provide this right to them.
- ENVIRONMENT-Sreenu Dandamudi believes that protecting
the environment from the onslaught of destructive legislation is essential
to the future of St. Louis.
"My interest is based on the fact that I would
like to get involved and try to make a difference in what's going on,
especially on these four issues which are very close to me. My parents
are supportive and enthusiastic. I have a treasurer and have a good
team in place. I have a lot of support from the district overall
Mr. Sreenu was raised in St. Louis since he was three
years old. He attended Manchester School, Henry School, Parkway West
Junior High, and graduated from Parkway West High School in 1990. Graduated
from the University of Illinois in 1993 with an A.B. in History. Received
an M.A. in International Affairs from American University in 1998. Completed
law school at Washington University in 2001 and was sworn into the Missouri
Bar in April 2002.
