AIRPORT ESCALATOR INJURES NRI GIRL'S HAND

A 3-year-old US NRI girl Shehsha, suffered a mangled
hand after it became trapped in the moving rail of an escalator
at the Indira Gandhi International airport on yesterday, authorities
said.
According to Airport authorities:
- Her mother, Sreestha was at the immigration counter, when the
girl ran and climbed a few stairs, the escalator suddenly began
moving downwards.
- The girl lost balance and her hand got stuck.
- Her mother switched off the emergency button bringing the escalator
to stand still. But the girl’s hand was stuck.
- The girl's fingers were almost crushed between the metal sheet
and floor
- The girl kept crying as her hand got stuck and was profusely
bleeding
- She was in excruciating pain and was taken to the Spinal Injury
Centre of the hospital.
- She may require a real delicate operation
On
Dec. 13, 1999, NRI Jyotsana Jethani , 7, was crushed under an escalator
at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.The
court ordered Airports Authority of India (AAI) to pay Rs 16.5 lakh
