Kapil Mohan and NRI businessmen told that the delay
has been caused as the company was yet to acquire
five RJ-145 Embraer aircrafts from Brazil.
Indus Airways which had scheduled its services this
month, has postponed its launch for another two months,
while Air Deccan is still undecided on the launch
date of its Chandigarh-Delhi flight.
Kapil Mohan said that it could take at least three
more months to acquire the aircrafts. Officials added
that Indus was planning to launch the service by hiring
aircrafts from other companies till Brazilian planes
were acquired.
Indus Airways would hire two planes so that the services
to Chandigarh could be launched. The company is buying
the 50-seater aircrafts on lease from a Brazilian
company. These can fly at a height of 37,000 feet.
While the Civil Aviation Ministry has given its clearance
for the launch, Chandigarh Airport authorities have
not yet given Indus Airways the permission for night
parking at the airport.
Officials said the time schedule has been fixed and
the company has also advertised 100 vacancies for
the posts of pilots, cabin crew, etc. Officials added
that advance booking would be started in Chandigarh
in about two months.
