Prominent educator, community activist and Sikh scholar Dr.
Raghbir Singh Bains O.B.C. winner of dozens of local, national
and international awards was bestowed with one more plume
to his crown when he was honored with SHAN_E_PUNJAB International
Award in his home country at Ludhiana during an Awards ceremony
held by the Alag Shabad Yug Charitable Trust for his volunteer
contribution to the wellbeing of global community. The annual
awards ceremony was organized by the trust to thank the most
valuable volunteers worldwide who made sustained commitment
to volunteer their time and service for welfare of others.

Dr Bains is author of the First of its kind Encyclopaedia
of Sikhism on multimedia in English language which brought
him name and fame in the world. He is proud producer-director
of Guru Angad Dev Multimedia Sikh Museum set up at Khadur
Sahib in India where he used the robotic and liquid crystal
display technology to spread the message of universal love
and peace enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It is a talking
museum and friendly to use.
Dr Bains visited dozens of countries in the world to create
awareness amongst youth on drug addiction, rapes, prostitution,
AIDS and world peace. He visited African countries like Kenya,
Uganda and Tanzania to make on site study about the menace
of AIDS. He has authored many books and produced various multimedia
CDs to create awareness on social evils.
Dr Bains has been decorated world wide with prestigious awards
like Order of British Columbia by the government of B.C. Canada,
Good Citizen of Surrey-B.C. Canada, Queen Elizabeth II's Golden
Jubilee Medal by the government of Canada, Sikh Scholar of
Computer Age by Sri Akal Takht Sahib-India, and Order of Khalsa
by the Punjab government.
He spends most of his time with youth addressing seminars,
workshops and writing articles so that the future generation
becomes constructive part of the social fabric in the world.
Other awardees are Dr. Inderjit Kaur Chairperson Bhagat Puran
Singh Trust Amritsar, S. Raja Singh Chairman Texla TV and
Gurmeet Singh of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle.
