Highlights of the Awards Dinner Gala
A spirit and the power of engagement highlighted at the Champions of Diversity Awards Gala
Over 1,100 multi-generational and multicultural guests, friends, community and civic leaders, award recipients, and dedicated volunteers attended the nationally-recognized
annual celebration.
The 28 accomplished and distinguished 2025 Champions
of Diversity Award recipients represented a wide spectrum
of fields of endeavors and passionate engagements; rich,
diverse, and unique excellence, and laudable contributions
to the letter and spirit of their prestigious Awards
The "1,100 community and business leaders were
there to celebrate the trailblazers, innovators and advocates
who exemplify the spirit of Indianapolis." - Raju Chinthala.
It was a special honor for me to be among the 28 Award
recipients and to receive the Champions of Diversity -
Civic Empowerment Award. Congratulations to all the
Awards recipients for their farsighted involvements and
amazing contributions to our Nation, the State of Indiana,
and to the Hoosier family in America's Heartland.
The Biographies, involvements, and contributions are
beautifully featured in the latest issue of Indiana Minority Business Magazine. Several articles about the 2025
Champions of Diversity Gala are featured online for us
to enjoy and share.
The Annual Gala was organized by Recorder Media
Group (that includes the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper
and Indiana Minority Business Magazine), President and
CEO Robert Shegog and his dedicated Team, and was
supported by several notable community organizations,
philanthropists, friends, State and National leaders, and
volunteers. Our hearty congratulations and thanks to them
all for an exciting, successful, memorable; and uplifting Gala.
The celebration was filled with pride, and there were renewed
calls to focus on and advance the unrealized "I Have a Dream" of the Venerable and Beloved Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
LOOKING FORWARD AND THE TASK AHEAD:
This year's Champions of Diversity Gala coincided with
the solemn observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday
at the Indiana Statehouse organized by ICRC Executive
Director Gregory Wilson and his Team. The theme of the
celebration was "The Power of Unity" and the highlight of
the Statehouse commemoration was Dr. King's "I have a
Dream" speech at the National Mall from the steps of
hallowed Lincoln Memorial in 1968.
We heard echoes of those powerful words and yearning hope
of Dr. King at the Champions of Diversity Gala from several
speakers. As I reflected on it over the weekend, we saw
distinct and hopeful outlines of Dr. King's "Dream" in light
of how far we have come.
There are many miles to go and waiting milestones to
triumph, and unwelcome hurdles to overcome for every
race, diverse cultures and faiths, and ethnicity and
nationalities. We have to right our ship for future
generations and our civilization. We saw 28 laudable
Champions, but there are thousands of enlightened
and dedicated Americans across our Nation are adding
to the beautiful mosaic of Dr. King's prayerful hope.
As we approach the crossroads our Nation's 250th
Birthday, we pray for America to take major giant leaps
towards that long-awaited cherished Dream of Dr. King.
Our work and investments in brilliant involvements,
engagements, and achievements that benefit all
Americans must go on. Our prayerful commitment
must be: not "what others can do for us" but what
we can do and empower for the larger good of all
fellow Americans who share this time and space with
us. We all have a stake in leaving a worthy legacy
for those who would inherit this "Blessed Home of
Amazing Dreams" in the times to come.
I am touched by the thoughtful and generous messages
about my Award - "Congratulations to our 2025 Civic
mpowerment Award winner Kanwal Prakash KP Singh!
We're proud to honor this exceptional leader." - Jennifer Robinson. Many thanks to everyone for guiding
me and for your generous support of involvements and
modest seva in the service of my Indiana Home!!
Enjoy some photos from the Gala!!! ~ Respectfully, -
