The 12th National Gatka Championship held in New Delhi from Jun 12, 2025 witnessed a remarkable display of skill, discipline, and heritage martial artistry, with Punjab asserting complete dominance in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. Their outstanding team performance led them to secure the overall championship trophies, reinforcing the state's long-standing legacy in the traditional Sikh martial art.

Chhattisgarh and Chandigarh emerged as strong contenders throughout the tournament, earning well-deserved runner-up positions. Close behind were Uttarakhand and Haryana, who demonstrated commendable grit and secured third place overall, contributing to the competitive spirit of the event.

The championship also celebrated individual excellence. Sharry Singh and Ravleen Kaur from Punjab were named the best players of the tournament for their exceptional performance and leadership. Meanwhile, the titles of Best Performer were awarded to Harmandeep Kaur and Harsimran Singh, who impressed audiences with their agility, technique, and consistency.

During the closing ceremony, Justice Talwant Singh addressed the participants and spectators, urging the younger generation to take up Gatka not only as a cultural practice but as a potential professional sport. He emphasized the importance of promoting indigenous martial arts through structured platforms and national support.

The event served not only as a competition but also as a celebration of tradition, youth talent, and community pride. With such inspiring participation, the 12th edition of the championship has further solidified Gatka’s place in India’s sporting landscape.
