Fresno, California opened a new school after Jaswant Singh Khalra human rights hero’s Name

Fresno, California’s Central Unified School, 4061 W. Fountain Way, opens the first U.S. elementary school named in honor of a Punjabi Sikh activist, Jaswant Singh Khalra. The school will serve over 600 students from preschool through sixth grade when it opens in August, 2025.
The Kalra family including his wife, daughter and NRIs attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. His wife, Paramjit Kaur, continues her fight through the Khalra Mission Organization and the JSK Heritage Trust, advocating for justice in memory of the thousands of extrajudicial killings and unclaimed victims.
