NRI Sanjiv Kumar Dhawan, 54, principal Arrested for Sexual Assault a student 16-year-old girl

On June 8, Brampton, Canada, Peel regional police charged a private school principal, following an investigation into allegations he sexually assaulted a student.

The police said:

• Sanjiv Kumar, 54-year-old also known as Sanjiv Dhawan, from Brampton, Ont. was released and is due in court on Aug. 24.
• He has been charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
• The allegations involve a 16-year-old girl who attends the private school in Brampton.

According to Toronto News Media, Sanjiv Dhawan’s lawyer said:

• Mr Dhawan denies all allegations and said that I was shocked to learn last night that I was being charged with a criminal offence in relation to one of my students.
• To all my family, friends and former students: Please rest assured that these allegations are false.
•  I look forward to clearing my name in the courts over the coming weeks.

Mr Dhawan has temporarily stepped down from the position of School Principal to clear his name from the allegations.
