Madhesh Ravichandran, an Indian national from Tamil Nadu, has won a race discrimination case against a KFC franchise manager in the United Kingdom, following a tribunal ruling that found he was subjected to racist abuse and unfair treatment at work.

Ravichandran was employed at a KFC outlet in south-east London, where he faced repeated discriminatory remarks from his Sri Lankan Tamil manager. The manager allegedly used derogatory terms such as “slave” and made offensive comments claiming that “Indians are fraudsters,” creating a hostile and degrading work environment.

Ravichandran also accused the management of unfair dismissal, stating that he was treated differently from other employees and was eventually removed from his position without proper justification. The employment tribunal ruled in his favour, concluding that the actions amounted to racial discrimination and wrongful dismissal.

As a result, the tribunal awarded Ravichandran nearly £67,000 in compensation, highlighting the seriousness of workplace racism and the importance of protecting employees’ rights regardless of nationality or background.
