Campaign finance reports show that Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu has raised over $325,000 in his re-election campaign, maintaining nearly $310,000 cash-on-hand at the start of 2022. Sidhu’s cash-on-hand is over $125,000 more than his nearest opponent. Sidhu was elected Mayor in the 2018 open seat race despite his main opponent outspending him by more than $60,000.
“I am grateful to all of the people supporting my re-election campaign, and I will continue raising funds to ensure that my campaign has the resources to tell the voters the whole story of the great Anaheim comeback,” Sidhu said. “I am excited to communicate with voters about how the City Council and I have led our city through an unprecedented pandemic to begin restoring our economy.”
With most of 2022 remaining, Sidhu has already raised more money for re-election than any Mayor in Anaheim history. By the end of 2021, Sidhu raised more for his 2022 re-election bid than Mayor Tom Tait spent in his entire 2014 re-election campaign, Mayor Curt Pringle in his 2006 re-election bid, and Mayor Tom Daly in his 1998 re-election campaign.
The first person of color ever to serve as Mayor of Anaheim, Sidhu immigrated to the United States, worked his way through college as a janitor, became an engineer, and launched his own small business, employing over 85 people. A City Councilmember from 2004 to 2012, Sidhu returned to City Hall when voters elected him as Mayor in 2018. Since then, Sidhu led the way in building and opening shelters to get the homeless off Anaheim streets and out of Anaheim parks, launched relief programs for residents and businesses hit hard by the pandemic, and negotiated economic development packages including significant community benefit programs. Sidhu and his wife, Gin, continue to reside in the Anaheim home where they raised their two children.
