Vivek Ramaswamy, a descendant of immigrants from Kerala in Southern India and a former challenger for the Republican Presidential nomination, has declared his intention to deport undocumented immigrants if Donald Trump, the official Republican candidate, secures victory in the upcoming November election.

Ramaswamy made this announcement during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“Our message to undocumented immigrants is clear: we will send you back to your country of origin. This is not because you are inherently bad, but because you violated the law, and the United States of America is built on the rule of law,” stated the 38-year-old. Having exited the presidential race earlier this year, Ramaswamy has since endorsed Trump.

On social media platform X, he elaborated on the Republican deportation strategy: “Two waves of mass deportations: First, repatriate millions of undocumented immigrants. Second, remove millions of federal bureaucrats from Washington D.C. This is the path to reviving our nation,” he wrote.

In his Tuesday night speech, Ramaswamy also discussed the immediate need to secure the southern border under a new Trump administration.

He additionally addressed legal immigrants and the Black community in the U.S. “To every legal immigrant: you are like my parents. You deserve the chance to provide a better life for your children in America,” he said.

To Black Americans, he conveyed, “The media has long suggested that Republicans disregard your communities. We want for you what we want for every American: secure neighborhoods, tidy streets, quality jobs, a better future for your children, and a justice system that treats everyone equally, regardless of race or political views.”
