The daughter of Indian Sikh immigrants, Nikki  Randhawa, 44,  who was born and raised in South Carolina, the first Indian-American female governor of South Carolina, vowed there is a "new US UN.

Nikki became popular when she cemented her legacy in her home state by calling for and ultimately removing the Confederate flag from the statehouse grounds and backed Trump rivals Sen. Marco Rubio and then Sen. Ted Cruz during the GOP battle for a White House nominee.
I’m here to say the United States will not turn a blind eye to this anymore. The Security Council is supposed to discuss how to maintain international peace and security.
We stand for peace. We support a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that is negotiated directly between the two parties, as President Trump reiterated in his meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu
But at our meeting on the Middle East, the discussion was not about Hizballah’s illegal build-up of rockets in Lebanon. It was not about the money and weapons Iran provides to terrorists. It was not about how we defeat ISIS
Haley told a Security Council debate on conflicts in Europe that "Russia's attempts to destabilize Ukraine we confront the threats ." United States is ready to improve ties with Russia but will not compromise on its support for NATO and the European Union.

US won't compromise on EU support to please Russia: Haley
United Nations, Feb 22 (IANS) US ambassador to UN Nikki Haley has said the US will not compromise on its support for the European Union and NATO in its quest to improve relations with Russia.

"The US thinks it's possible to have a better relationship with Russia. After all, we confront many of the same threats," Haley said on Tuesday at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

She singled out Russia over its attempts to "destabilise" Ukraine, adding: "Greater cooperation with Russia cannot come at the expense of the security of our European friends and allies."

According to Channel News Asia, the remarks came as European leaders are seeking reassurance after President Donald Trump applauded Britain's decision to leave the EU, criticised NATO members over burden-sharing and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin.

White House Chief Strategist Stephen K. Bannon is an ardent supporter of nationalist movements throughout the continent which promote a breakdown of the EU.

Over the weekend in Brussels, Vice President Mike Pence said the US was committed to both the EU and NATO.

Enlarging NATO has been a major bone of contention with Russia, which sees any expansion of the military alliance in eastern Europe as a policy of containment directed against Moscow.

Trump: Nikki Haley doing 'awfully' good job for us
Washington, Feb 18 (IANS) US President Donald Trump has praised Indian-American Nikki Haley, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, saying that she is doing an "awfully" good job.

Haley is the first Indian American to hold the Cabinet-level position and served as the 116th governor of South Carolina from January 2011 to January 2017.

"I want to also thank your former governor, Nikki Haley, who is doing an awfully good job for us, " Trump said to a crowd during a visit to Charleston, South Carolina.

"She's representing America very well as our ambassador to the United Nations. She is doing a spectacular job. It's early, but she has just been really great," he added.

Trump comments came as he was attending the unveiling of the new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, a new commercial aircraft designed to carry over 300 passengers and manufactured at the US company's plant in South Carolina.
