Far-right activist and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer defended her ties to Donald Trump on Friday after accompanying him to multiple events this week. Trump referred to her as a “supporter” and “free spirit,” even as Republicans criticized her, claiming she was damaging his campaign. Loomer told her followers that she has always supported Trump without expecting anything in return, vowing to continue her investigative work.
Senator Thom Tillis quickly rebuked Loomer, calling her a “crazy conspiracy theorist” and arguing that she is hurting Trump’s chances for re-election. Tillis stated that Loomer spreads divisive rhetoric that only aids the opposition.
Trump, during a press conference, reiterated that Loomer does not officially work for his campaign but acknowledged her vocal support. He expressed disagreement with some of her statements, though he didn’t specify which ones. Loomer also told ABC News that she is simply a dedicated Trump supporter, not part of his official team.
Loomer has continued to promote conspiracy theories, including false claims about the 9/11 attacks. Despite traveling with Trump for commemorative events this week, she posted controversial content about 9/11, questioning the official narrative. She shared old footage of Trump suggesting that bombs could have contributed to the collapse of the Twin Towers.
In addition to her conspiracy theories, Loomer previously made a racially charged remark, stating that if Kamala Harris became president, the White House would "smell like curry." This and other inflammatory comments have drawn intense criticism, leading some to question her influence within Trump's circle, even as the former president attempts to distance himself from her more extreme views.
