  • GILL TO REPORT $470,000 RAISED IN SECOND QUARTER

LODI, CA, July 9, 2012 - Ricky Gill, a National Republican Congressional Committee "Young Gun" candidate in California's 9th District, will report raising over $470,000 in the quarter that ended on June 30. Gill also will report finishing the quarter with more than $1 million cash on hand.

In a three-way open primary on June 5th, Gill handily defeated a Republican opponent to advance to the November general election against incumbent Congressman Jerry McNerney. Gill earned 40.1 percent of the primary vote and held McNerney to just 47.8 percent. Running in a new district centered 50 miles away from his Pleasanton home, McNerney received a lower percentage of the primary vote than any other incumbent in the region.

"In 2010, a tough four-way Republican primary gave McNerney an unearned advantage," said Gill consultant James Fisfis. "In this year's primary, by contrast, Ricky won handily and immediately secured his Republican opponent's endorsement. In this election, McNerney is not only weak and out of his element -- he's also facing a unified Republican opposition."

Separately, voter registration figures in the 9th District continue to trend in the Republicans' favor. At the end of July 2011, the district included 9.7 percent more registered Democrats than Republicans, according to Political Data, Inc. Over the past year, the gap has narrowed steadily, and it now stands at only 7.3 percent.

  • GILL EARNS ENDORSEMENT OF PRIMARY OPPONENT JOHN MCDONALD

LODI, CA, June 13, 2012 - Congressional candidate Ricky Gill announced today that he has earned the endorsement of Republican primary opponent John McDonald, who called Gill "the best candidate to represent the 9th District in Congress."

McDonald, a high technology executive and resident of Mountain House, made the following statement on his endorsement:

"We had our differences in the primary, but I believe Ricky Gill is the best candidate to represent the 9th District in Congress. It is critical that we send a conservative voice to Washington to address the fundamental challenges we face, from our out-of-control regulatory regime to our growing national debt. Now is the time for conservatives to stick together and work hard to ensure victory in November. That's why I am endorsing Ricky for U.S. Congress and offering my support to his general election campaign."

Gill earned 39 percent of the vote in the June 5th open primary election to advance to a November runoff against incumbent Rep. Jerry McNerney. Together, Gill and McDonald earned 51.4 percent of the primary vote to McNerney's 48.6 percent, according to current vote totals.

"I'm honored to have earned John McDonald's endorsement," said Gill. "John and I agree that, in this critical election year, we must stand together to defeat Jerry McNerney and make a fresh start in Washington. I look forward to working with John and all conservatives in the 9th District to mount a strong general election campaign centered on jobs, education, and common-sense government."

NRCC NAMES RICKY GILL A "YOUNG GUN"

LODI, CA, May 10, 2012 - The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today that Lodi family farmer Ricky Gill has advanced to the top level of its "Young Guns" election program. Gill is one of just 12 candidates nationwide -- and the only California candidate who is challenging an incumbent -- to be named a "Young Gun."

"These candidates have met a series of rigorous goals that will put them in position to win on Election Day," said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). "These twelve candidates are leading the pack as Republicans continue to send a loud and clear message that we will hold Democrats accountable for their job-destroying agenda."

In his campaign against incumbent Rep. Jerry McNerney, Gill already has secured the endorsements of key local officials, has raised more than $1.2 million largely from individual donors, and has been featured in media outlets across the country.
"I'm humbled to receive this recognition," said Gill. "We've accomplished a lot so far on this campaign: we've led the charge for local representation, we've stood up for farmers, and we've fought for parents and students who want a better education."

"But there is more work to be done," he said. "It's time to build on this momentum  and make a fresh start in Washington."
