2 NRI Sanjay Singhal, Sukh Kaur Win Key Runoffs in Texas Municipal Elections

2 NRI Sanjay Singhal and Sukh Kaur secured wins in key runoff elections across Texas city councils today.

Sugar Land District 2 saw Sanjay Singhal, a retired energy executive and IIT Delhi graduate, claim a decisive victory over Nasir Hussain. Unofficial tallies from Fort Bend County show Singhal earned 2,346 votes compared to Hussain’s 777. Campaigning on a platform of transparent governance, infrastructure upgrades, and deeper community outreach, Singhal emphasized: “This victory belongs to the residents of District 2…ready to serve with transparency and dedication”.

San Antonio District 1 belongs once again to Sukh Kaur, the first Sikh woman on the San Antonio City Council. She retained her seat with a commanding 65% of the vote against challenger Patty Gibbons. Focused on affordable housing, public transit expansion, and balanced urban development, Kaur told supporters: “District 1 is about preserving our history while still moving our district forward”
