Lisa Nandy was first elected as the Labour MP for Wigan in 2010.
Lisa Eva Nandy is a British Labour Party politician who has been Member of Parliament for Wigan since 2010. She served as Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change from September 2015 until June 2016. Lisa has backed the striking drug and alcohol support workers employed in Wigan and Leigh by charity Addaction over their pay dispute.
“Supporting people to overcome drug and alcohol addiction is an incredibly tough job and makes a difference for every single one of us in Wigan. Addaction’s employees deserve the pay settlement they were promised when they moved from the NHS to Addaction and I am determined to stand with them and Unison to make sure they get it.”
During her time in Parliament, Lisa has served on the front bench in a number of roles, including Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Shadow Children’s Minister and Shadow Minister for Civil Society.
Lisa is also the co-founder of the think tank Centre for Towns which was set up to ensure priority is given to the viability and prosperity of Britain’s towns.
Before entering Parliament, Lisa worked for the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint and The Children’s Society.
