NRI Raj Mishra, 37, has been elected as the mayor of Wellingborough, a historic market town in Northamptonshire, England. His election was confirmed at the Wellingborough Town Council’s annual meeting on May 13, 2025, following his victory in the Victoria Ward during the local elections held on May 6.
Mishra, the sixth of nine siblings, pursued an MTech in computer science in London and holds a Data Science certification from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. With over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, he transitioned into politics, emphasizing community engagement and inclusive leadership. In his mayoral role, Mishra aims to foster economic development, environmental sustainability, and active civic participation. He has selected the Veterans Community Network and Louisa Gregory’s Hospice Campaign as his chosen charities for the 2025–26 term.
Back in his hometown of Bhatehara in Mirzapur, news of Mishra’s election sparked celebrations, with family and villagers expressing immense pride in his achievement.
