COUNCILLOR, Amrit Mediratta of Three Rivers honoured
in Indian ceremony
Councillor Amrit Mediratta was presented with
a Hind Ratan (Jewel of India) award at a ceremony
in New Delhi on the eve of India's Republic Day
celebration. The Non Resident Indians (NRI) Welfare
Society of India, which operates with the backing
of the Government of India organised the event.
He was one of 400 delegates to
be honoured at a ceremony in New Delhi recently.
From 52 countries, four hundred delegates of Indian
origin (NRI) gathered in New Delhi on the occasion
of the 54th anniversary of India's Republic Day.
Several high-ranking government ministers
attended the three-day event.
Amrit Mediratta is a second generation
British Indian from Kenya, recognised for his
charitable work. He is very actively involved
with two charities to help street children in
Bangalore in South India and Calcutta in the State
of Bengal. Amrit Mediratta is a Councillor
and leader of the Conservative group at Three
Rivers District Council
