Nila Vikhe Patil, 41, has been elected to Sweden’s 349-member Parliament, the Riksdag, from the Stockholm City constituency. She represents Sweden’s Green Party.
- Nila Vikhe Patil, born in 1985 in Lidköping, Sweden, is a Swedish politician and member of the Green Party.
- She has Indian and Swedish family roots, with her father, Ashok Vikhe Patil, originally from Maharashtra.
- She is the great-granddaughter of Vithalrao Vikhe Patil, granddaughter of former Union Minister Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, and niece of Maharashtra minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil.
- She spent part of her early childhood in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, before returning to Sweden for her education.
- She holds business and management qualifications, including degrees from the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law.
- She has worked at PwC since 2020 and became a certified public accountant in 2025.
- Before entering Parliament, she was active in Sweden’s Green Party, served on the Stockholm City Council, and worked as an adviser in the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office during Stefan Löfven’s premiership.
- Her election adds another notable India-linked name to Sweden’s national political landscape.
