Dubai-based Indian businessman NRI "Firoz Merchant" has once again showcased his commitment to philanthropy by donating Dh1 million to facilitate the release of more than 900 prisoners across jails in the UAE. Renowned for his benevolent efforts, Merchant spearheads the initiative to pay fines, ensuring the prisoners' freedom and reuniting them with their families just ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

As the owner of Pure Gold in Dubai, Firoz Merchant has been actively involved in the welfare of pensioners through his 'The Forgotten Society' initiative, established in 2008. With a total donation of Dh25 million dedicated to prisoners' welfare, Merchant has played a crucial role in securing the release of over 20,000 prisoners since 2008, collaborating closely with police officials at central jails across the UAE. His support goes beyond settling debts and fines; he also provides air tickets to enable these individuals to return to their home countries.
