US President Donald Trump Suspend Migration From ‘Third World Countries’ After D.C. Violence

After a National Guard member was killed in an attack near the White House, US President Trump said Thursday that the U.S. will permanently suspend migration from all “Third World Countries.”
Officials say the gunman, an Afghan national who entered the U.S. in 2021 under a resettlement program, carried out the shooting that also left another Guard member critically injured.
Trump did not specify which countries would be affected or clarify the meaning of a “permanent pause,” but said the restrictions would apply even to cases approved under former President Joe Biden.
He also pledged to end federal benefits for non-citizens, “denaturalize” individuals who threaten domestic stability, and deport anyone deemed a public burden, security risk, or “non-compatible with Western civilization.”
U.N. officials urged the United States to uphold its commitments to refugees and ensure due process for asylum seekers. Meanwhile, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has suspended all immigration processing involving Afghan nationals indefinitely.
