A growing number of Indian professionals are choosing to leave Canada and return to India, citing rising costs, job instability, and better opportunities back home. According to Statistics Canada, nearly 15% of highly skilled Indian workers returned to India between 2020 and 2025, a significant rise from the 5% recorded a decade ago.

One major factor driving this trend is India's booming economy, particularly in the tech and innovation sectors. With competitive salaries and lower living costs, cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad are becoming attractive alternatives. Additionally, Canada's soaring housing prices and increasing immigration policy uncertainty have made long-term stability difficult for many skilled workers.

A viral social media post by a Delhi man called the Canadian dream a "scam," highlighting poor work-life balance, high living expenses, and job insecurity. His sentiments have sparked debate among immigrants, with some agreeing and others defending Canada’s opportunities.

In response, Canadian industry leaders are calling for policy reforms, including more affordable housing, better job integration programs, and stronger permanent residency pathways. As India rises as a global economic power, more skilled workers may reconsider whether Canada is truly the best destination for career growth.
