Sri Guru Singh Sabha Walnut (California, USA) has proudly celebrated
the New Year, 539th NANAKSHAHI Samat, for the Sikh Community in
Southern California, U.S.A. in a very large scale to spread the
awareness for the New Year of our Community on Wednesday, March
14th, 2007.
The celebrations included melodious kirtan by
various ragi jathas, varieties of Indian food and Snacks in 15 different
stalls, Fireworks by the professionals and Guru Ka Langar. More
than 1500 people attended this celebration to greet each other on
the occasion of Sikh New Year.
There was a wide variety of Indian snacks and food for
the sangat. Some of the snacks were Dahi Bhalla, Alloo Chat, Chat
Papri, Brownie and Ice cream, various Indian Sweets, SambharVada,
Chhole Puri, Fruit Chat, Jalebi Milk, etc.
On this auspicious occasion brothers Ikmanpreet Singh Sawhney and
Jasjeet Singh Sawhney distributed various types of toys to the children.
Fireworks display by the professionals:
The Children and the Sangat also enjoyed
the fireworks display by the professionals at 9:30 pm.
The Gurudwara Walnut was very pleased by the support of the sangat
of southern california. Gurudwara Walnut will continue to celebrate
major Sikh events in order to spread the awareness about the Sikhism
and Punjabi community in Southern California.
